Watch
Filing is not the end.
A registered mark needs attention for as long as you hold it. Notum watches for new applications that come close to a mark you care about, and tells you as they are published, in time to act.
Watch is in early access, by invitation.
What an alert is
An alert is a sentence, not a number.
Each alert is written out in full, scored the way a search result is. It names the new application, the ring it entered, the class, and the likeness that drove it. Where an opposition window is open, it gives the date it closes and how many days are left.
In the app, the Watch Radar plots each new mark against your own on the same range rings as a search, so a close arrival is easy to see. Marks that arrived since your last visit are ringed.

What triggers one
Five things Notum tells you about.
- 01
A close new application
Someone applies for a mark near yours. When it enters your 75, 50 or 25 ring, the alert says which ring, in which class, and which likeness drove it: sound, look or meaning.
- 02
An opposition window opening
A newly published application can be opposed for a short, fixed period: two months from publication, or three with a notice of threatened opposition. The alert gives the date the window closes and the days left.
- 03
A TM7A notice pack
For a UK application inside its window, Notum prepares the details for a notice of threatened opposition (form TM7A) as a PDF. You file it yourself with the UK IPO. Notum files nothing.
- 04
A renewal date approaching
When the expiry date of a mark tied to your watch is near, Notum reminds you at six months, three months and one month before it.
- 05
A status change
When the status on the register of a mark Notum has already raised against your watch changes, you hear about it.

On the chart
A close filing crosses the rings.
New applications are published all the time. Notum plots each one against your mark, and the one that comes close lights in magenta with the date its window closes beside it. The rest pass by.
Illustrative example. Not a live result. Marks and dates are invented; every new filing is shown in italic, because it is still inside its opposition window.

Limits
An alert, not an action.
Notum tells you promptly when something relevant happens. It does not file a renewal, lodge an opposition or advise you whether to oppose. Those are decisions for you and a trade mark attorney.
The TM7A pack carries the same coverage statement as a search, so you can see which register records it did not read.
