Scoring that mirrors how conflicts are assessed
A trademark conflict is rarely about an identical name. It is about marks that are close enough to cause confusion. Avanti Notum scores every result across the dimensions that determine that closeness — phonetic, visual and conceptual:
Phonetic similarity — how it sounds
Names that look different on paper can still clash when spoken aloud. Avanti Notum scores phonetic similarity using established sound-matching algorithms, so 'Klaritee' and 'Clarity' are recognised as the close match they are.
A note on what the score is
The similarity score is a measure of how close two marks are. It is not a prediction of whether your application will be accepted, and it is not legal advice. It tells you where to look — a trademark attorney decides what it means for your filing.
From the code you know to the classes you need
Trademark searches are organised by Nice Classification — 45 classes covering every type of goods and services. The trouble is that most business owners have never heard of Nice classes. They do, however, know their SIC code: the industry code they used when they registered at Companies House. Avanti Notum bridges the two. Enter a SIC code, or simply describe your business, and Avanti Notum suggests the Nice classes most relevant to you, each with a confidence level and a short explanation of why the class is suggested. How many marks you can monitor depends on your plan, from five on Professional up to unlimited on Enterprise.
Every search, kept and findable
Every search you run is saved to your history, with its original results intact. Filter your history by date, search term or risk level to find a past search quickly. Bookmark individual results you want to keep an eye on, and they are held in your saved list for easy reference. For trademark attorneys, this is an audit trail — every search logged with its date, parameters and results, ready for your professional records.
History is retained for 12 months on paid plans. The Free plan keeps your last five searches.
Built for practices and teams, not just individuals
Trademark work is rarely a one-person job. Avanti Notum's Team and Enterprise plans include multiple seats so a whole practice or team can search, generate reports and view monitoring from their own logins — sharing one subscription and one search quota.
